2016 TennisGear Championships All the news from two big days of tennis Congratulations and thank you to all that took part in this year's TennisGear Championships. Jet lag is always an issue for the first 2 days after arriving. I beat my alarm clock by an hour and wake at 5.30am. This is not too bad. In past years I have woken up for the first day of stringing as early as 4am. I hit the gym and get ready for work. Jim is thrilled by the early wake up call. In past years we have had to take the train out to Arthur Ashe. But this year the tournament shuttle buses have started running early.The shuttle takes about 35min to get to the tennis centre....

2 chairs for me. As I sit here catching up on a week's worth of stringing blog I am given yet another reason to dislike New York. It is Friday night. Qualifying matches finished today and we had our first (and probably my last) early finish of the tournament. We made the 7pm bus - back at the hotel just after 7.30.The plan was to have a couple of drinks while writing this blog. The only problem of course is that most bottle shops here do not sell pre-mixes. There are laws against it here in New York. Serenity Now....

Huge cheers greeted the entrance of Gael Monfils onto Philippe Chatrier Court. The crowd barely registered Andy Murray’s arrival, save for a smattering of jeers. Murray smirked as he walked onto the court, clearly accepting of his fate of having to enter a cauldron of vociferous Parisian support for a home-grown player. Perhaps he even relished the challenge. It seemed that way judging.....
